Leave the subject line blank and type "SUB ieee-l Firstname Lastname" in the body (note the capital letters).
Example: SUB ieee-l John Smith

Don't include your e-mail address, the listserv gets it from the mail header. When your request is accepted, you'll get a "welcome to the list" message via e-mail. Please follow the instructions in the "welcome" message to confirm your subscription to the listserv.
