All students attending the 2002 Winter Power Meeting are eligible to apply for sponsorship to attend the meeting.
This program is sponsored in part by the IEEE-PES Power Engineering Education Committee and possibly by the National Science
Foundation. This program provides hotel accommodations and various meals to participating students. Participating
students should not register for the conference independently. This will be done for you by IEEE. All students are
eligible for a $250 travel stipend to be used towards transportation expenses.
Students selected to receive the $250 stipends will need to fill in an expense report
and submit a copy of their airfare receipt at the meeting. Checks will be mailed to the
students after the meeting.
Successful applicants will be notified via e-mail by DECEMBER 15, 2001.
Sponsored-student accomodations will be at the conference host hotel: The
New York Hilton Hotel at 53rd and Avenue of the Americas (6th Avenue).
Sponsored students will be registered with the hotel in triple-occupancy
rooms for the nights specified on their application form. Students may
check-in at the Hilton on Saturday, January 26, or Sunday, January 27.
PLEASE make sure that your arrival date is accurately specified. You must
check-out by 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 31. Students wishing to arrive
earlier or stay later are responsible for their own accommodations.
Roommate requests will be honored whenever possible.
Applications may be sent via post, express mail, FAX, or e-mail. E-mail applications must include all of the requested information.
Student transcripts may be mailed or FAXed. For students attending Universities that do not issue transcripts, a letter from the
department chairman stating the applicant is currently enrolled and in good standing is acceptable.
All correspondence will be via e-mail. Please make sure that the applicant and advisor e-mail addresses are legible and correct.
This is especially important for applicants who FAX their application materials.
The deadline for receipt of completed applications is DECEMBER 1, 2001.
